After meeting them back in 2019 when I shot their Christmas mini session (and when their daughter was only six months old!), I was so excited when Shukia and Stephan asked me to capture their wedding day two years later! Their wedding at Boxwood Manor Houston Tx was full of amazing moments. As this was Stephan’s first time seeing his family post-Covid and his family’s first time seeing their cute baby boy, it wasn’t only a wedding day, but a big family reunion too!
Shukia and Stephan are both super sweet and laid back and their wedding day reflected just that. The day started with Shukia getting ready with her girls while they enjoyed some cocktails and music. Meanwhile, Stephan and the guys played mini golf. And there were no worries about wedding day nerves. Shukia and Stephan were both relaxed but also thrilled about the big moment where they were going to say “I do!”
Where Southern Chic Meets Luxury at Boxwood Manor
The vibe at Boxwood Manor was lovely! This luxury venue includes various settings to utilize on your wedding day such as the wedding cottages, which Shukia and Stephan both used while getting ready. Their first look and their ceremony both took place at The Chapel which has wide windows spread all around the walls to make for the best lighting. The first look was a beautiful moment to capture and Stephan’s reaction was just priceless!
Elegant is the perfect word to describe the ceremony. Live music was playing from the upstairs lounge and Shukia’s grand entrance was amazing! The reception took place at The Manor which had the most gorgeous decorations and tablescapes.
Cultural Traditions on Your Wedding Day
When it comes to including cultural traditions on your wedding day, I’ll be there to capture all the fun while celebrating your big day with you! At Shukia and Stephan’s reception, they danced their way into the Manor and continued on the front floor. As the night went on, everyone came together for the Nigerian money spray dance. This cultural tradition symbolizes showering newlyweds with good fortune and happiness!
If you wish to include any of your own cultural traditions on your wedding day, don’t hesitate to give them a dedicated time on your wedding timeline, however big or small you think it may seem. Cultural wedding traditions are very special and I’m always so happy to capture them.
